Virtual View Windows conducts the entire process via your phone or computer.

Virtual View was one of several companies I interviewed during my search for the best window replacement provider. In this review, I’ll take you through my full experience—from the initial outreach, to the measurement appointment and final installation—along with how their pricing stacks up against other national well known window companies.

Be sure to see the Wacky Window Woman Price Comparison Chart to see how Replacement Window Companies stack up one against the other when comparing price and overall energy ratings.

When we first started calling around for window quotes, Virtual View Windows wasn’t even on our radar. I was familiar with big names like Window World, Window Nation, Renewal by Andersen, Marvin, Universal Windows Direct and Pella from their frequent TV commercials—but I hadn’t yet heard of Virtual View Windows. A few weeks into my search, though, I found Virtual View Windows and once I learned that they allow you to do the entire window replacement sales process virtually, I was intrigued. They can service most states, their service areas can be found here.

Best Window Replacement Company

The owner of Virtual View Windows and the brain behind the Virtual Quote concept, in his early years was a canvasser. Window canvassers are like the undercover agents of the home improvement world. Armed with nothing but a clipboard, a smile, and a boundless belief in the power of new windows, they knock on your door like they’re about to change your life. And honestly, they might.

They’ll approach your door with the precision of a ninja, trying to catch you at the exact moment you’re not wearing pajamas or eating a sandwich. With a practiced pitch, they’ll explain how your current windows might be hurting your home’s energy efficiency, even though you’ve just made peace with the fact that your house has an extra “charm” thanks to those old, drafty windows.

And when you answer the door, don’t be surprised if they’re already mid-sentence, enthusiastically detailing why this is the perfect time for you to get new windows. Because, of course, this offer is based on you being one of the first in your neighborhood to put a sign in your yard. Their job is to schedule that magical appointment where a sales rep will come over, and share with you the benefits of new windows and how they can reduce your energy costs. And actually, if you upgrade to Triple-Pane, you can file for $600 tax credit on next year’s taxes.

In short, window canvassers are the unsung heroes of the window world, knocking on doors, braving the elements, and doing their best to get you to say “yes” to that free estimate… and this may or may not come with a side of awkward small talk. Bless their hearts!

But good news! Gone are the days where you HAVE to let a Window Sales Representative into your home. With Virtual View Windows you can request a virtual quote. All they need are some photos, number of windows and few other pieces of information around the exterior material of your home along with the year it was built. If before 1978 lead remediation may be required and will be included in your final quote.

What to expect with Virtual View Windows

Once you submit your request for quote and photos, you'll be afforded a Virtual Consultation, if you want it. This can be via Zoom, FaceTime or a traditional phone call. You can use this time for Joe to demo the window and it's features or just talk through the energy ratings and specifications.

They are not high-pressure and understand that sometimes you need time to process the information and to determine your next move. They will help you differentiate all the window lingo like, double-pane, triple-pane, argon gas, low-E glass, U Factor, Air Infiltration and Energy Star ratings. They’ll cover their warranty details and also help you understand what to expect at your measure and installation appointments. Depending on the number of questions you have, this call or virtual meeting can take 15-30 minutes.

Virtual View offers the Mezzo Quattro Series Window by Alside. The Mezzo is a double pane window with a triple pane option. The #2 company on the comparison chart, Window World also sells an Alside window, but it’s the 4000 series which doesn’t stack up against the Mezzo Quattro Window. Virtual View's price is $9740, which is $322 less than Window World and they offer a better performing window.

I was impressed by “Joe’s” demo of the memory mesh screen which comes included with the Quattro series. We opted to have a virtual meeting to talk through some of our questions and it was during this time that Joe pointed out a few features of his window.

Joe put a golf tee right through the screen and left it there for a few minutes. When he took it out, the hole the tee left was pretty good size, definitely, large enough that a small bug could get through. But then, he rubbed the screen and the memory mesh went right back to its original form and bam, no room for a bug to sneak through. The Alside 4000 series by Window World has the traditional fiberglass screen, no memory mesh.

You can’t review windows without talking about Energy Star certification. What I’ve learned as I’ve continued to dive into the window lingo is that a window that says it’s Energy Star certified is yesterday’s news. What you want is a window that is Energy Star certified, 7.0. Joe pointed out on their Alside Mezzo Quattro window meets the tougher restrictions of the 7.0 specifications.

After we shared our concerns around noise, he agreed to give us a quote for both double pane and triple pane. Triple Pane can really help cut down outside noise. He ensured that we understood what low E glass is and how argon gas is pumped in between the panes of glass for energy efficiency and noise reduction. We had lots of questions between the triple and double-pane options. I was curious to get the price difference as I really felt the triple pane might be the route I wanted to go.

The other point that Joe touched on was to understand Alside Mezzo Quattro Window's Air Infiltration ratings. He shared with us a brochure that indicated that the industry standard for Air Infiltration is .30 CFM (cubic feet per minute). The lower the better. The Mezzo Quattro Window sold by Virtual View Windows is rated as a .04 CFM, which is significantly better than industry standard.

Joe was quick to get us an electronic quote within hours of speaking to him. What you’ll likely find even if you do get a few quotes, is that 95% of the time Virtual View Windows will be less money.

Virtual View Windows operates entirely online, which significantly reduces overhead costs. Without the need for a nationwide sales force or expensive showrooms, they can offer more competitive pricing. Product demonstrations are conveniently done through Zoom or pre-recorded videos. They provide ENERGY STAR-rated vinyl windows, all backed by limited lifetime warranties.

If you haven’t already checked out the Window Comparison Chart in this website, be sure to do that. Also, I’ll continue to bring in window companies in to gather more quotes to ensure this website is accurate and up to date.

You’ll note, that Virtual View Windows is one of the most affordable replacement window companies on the comparison chart. My home, the one I still live in today had the crappy builder-grade windows. Most of our windows face the west and we live off a busy road, so the noise is super crazy. Sometimes watching TV is a challenging, specifically if it’s raining. Between the water noise, the car noise and the train yard a few hundred feet away, it can cause quite the racket.

If you are ready for new replacement windows, but not in any way prepared to let a multitude of Window Reps into your home, check out Virtual View Windows. Then compare them to the others on the Wacky Window Woman Chart to determine which one is the best fit for you!

Alside Mezzo Quattro Window by Alside

Virtual View Windows works with Alside, which is a national window manufacturer. Virtual View promotes the Mezzo Quattro window in both double- and triple-pane options.

Once you are in contact with Virtual View Windows, they will arrange for an Alside certified representative to come into your home to measure all the windows you want to replace. All replacement windows are custom built due to the fact that every window opening is unique. Once your window order is received, a certified Alside representative will come out to install. In most cases, this can be done in one day.

Window quality and window performance is only as good as the install, so be sure to ask any company you are considering if the measure and install technicians are certified by the window manufacturer.

Virtual View Windows Review of Price and Sales Process

If you find a super-high price quote placed in front of you, then be prepared for them to hammer you hard for a “yes” that day. It’s likely, that they know they are over-priced, so they need to get you to sign before you get other quotes and you begin to realize some of the companies out there are just charging way too much for replacement windows.

If you want information and a quote from Virtual View, reach out to Joe@MccloudWindows or you can call him at 614/400-4941 and he can help you start the process. Feel free to email him pictures, number of windows and any other information you feel he may need to get you a quote.

As you chisel down who you want to invite into your home if any at all, I encourage you to consider Virtual View Windows and add them to the list of the companies you want to consider and be sure to tell them the WACKY WINDOW WOMAN sent you to them!
