Not all warranties are created equal. Learn how to end the "blame" game.

When it was time for my husband and I to begin the quest to get prices to replace the 12 windows in our 2016 home, we were not looking forward to the process of sitting through three or four window demos, but we wanted multiple quotes. I didn't want a weird dude I barely knew to come sit on my white sofa and hang out for two or three hours.

We kept asking ourselves, isn't there a better way? Well, after the first two window demos, fortunately I stumbled upon a company called Virtual View Windows and worked with Joe. He offered the entire sales process from quote to contract virtually.

You'll send to Virtual View your window count, sizes, pictures and they will email you a quote. When the time comes to ask questions, you can request to schedule a zoom call and also for Joe to demo the Alside Mezzo window for you. Easy Peasy. No high-pressure sales pitch where you practically have to throw the guy out of your home if you are not ready to sign on the dotted line.

And not only is the typical replacement window sales process a headache, it's all the other stuff you have to consider like U-Factor, Solar Heat Gain Co-efficient, Energy Star, Financing and then the warranty. It can all be so confusing.

See the Wacky Window Woman Price Comparison Chart to see the ten companies that came into our home to quote our project of twelve windows. It's pretty eye-opening.

Ultimately we chose the high-performance Mezzo window from Alside offered by Virtual View, a nation-wide dealer for Alside.

What is a "Bumper-to-Bumper" Window Warranty

When you drive a brand-new car off the parking lot, you don't expect anything to go wrong, but when it does, you assume you can call the dealership and they would fix any issues you have. You wouldn't expect that if you found you had a bad tire that the dealership would expect you to call the tire manufacturer, right? You would expect them to 'handle it' and that's what you want with your new replacement windows as well.

When you are shopping window companies be sure to inquire as to who is installing the windows? Are they employees of the company or a 3rd party contractor? And if it is a contractor not only do you want to know if they are manufacturer certified installers, but is there some sort of warranty on the install portion job? The last thing you want is for the installer to blame an issue on the manufacturer and the manufacture to blame the installer for a bad install.

Protecting the Product: The Alside Lifetime Limited Warranty

One of the main deciding factors when choosing windows for our new home was the warranty. Virtual View had a competitive price, steller energy ratings and the peace of mind we sought as it pertained to warranty. With Virtual View's Alside Mezzo Window you'll get two warranties. One is for the product and one is from ISS (Installed Sales Solutions) for the installation.

ISS is a division of Alside. The same company who manufactured your window is also installing the window with their certified and trained Alside installers.

The Alside limited lifetime product warranty covers for the original purchaser-present owner for one year:

  • Vinyl Sash Frame and Vinyl Mainframe

  • Moving Parts of the Basic Product Unit

  • Fiberglass screening and screen frames

  • Hermetically insulated glass unit warranted for as long as the original property owner owns and lives in the property

No registration required. All needed information is on the tag inside the pocket of the upper sash of your new Alside Mezzo Replacement Window.

The Alside ISS Installation Warranty covers any needed labor for the first year.

Alside provides a Warranty Tag/Sticker inside your window, should you need to refer to it for warranty information.

The Installation Peace of Mind, Why Alside ISS is the Missing Link

A really good window is only as good as it's installation, so don't take this part of the process for granted. You could pay top dollar for a really expensive high-quality window, but if it's not installed properly it was all for naught.

ISS is the installation arm of Alside. Many companies hire contractors or "Chuck and a Truck" to install and then if there are any issues, you the homeowner are stuck in the middle.

Because ISS is part of the Alside family, the labor to replace a defective part is covered. If a sub contractor installs your window, a typical limited warranty would likely cover the part, but not the $200+ for someone to install and repair.

Single-Source Accountability: The End of the "Blame Game"

You've heard the horror stories. A new replacement window has a leak. The homeowner calls the manufacturer only to be told it was a bad install. The installer says its a faulty window. Hence, the finger pointing begins. No one wins here, specifically you, the homeowner.

With single-source accountability from Alside and ISS, the same entity owns the window from the factory-floor to your great room wall. There is no one else to point the finger at.

And, if there ever is an issue, you have Joe from Virtual View who acts as your homeowner advocate with Alside. He has a long-standing relationship with Alside along with all the influence needed to ensure you get the warranty assistance you are looking for.

2026 Replacement Window Warranty: How to get Bumper-to-Bumper protection for your New Windows

Our windows were installed in November of 2025 and we love them. The biggest difference is the amount of sound we "don't" hear coming from the outside.

Knowing that we have this entire first year to ensure our windows operate and perform as expected gives my husband and I the peace of mind all homeowners want to ensure we made a good buying decision.
