My guess, if you are here, is that you've been searching the internet for window prices, specifically the price for a double hung replacement window. You've probably not had much luck finding a price for a single window, until now.
I had ten different window companies into my home to quote my window replacement project of Twelve-Windows. We chose to purchase from Virtual View Windows. The total cost was $11,528 or about $960 per window installed. This price is for the Alside Mezzo Window; white vinyl, double-hung and includes the triple-pane glass package. My windows meet the Energy Star 7.0 most efficient ratings and come standard with Alside's memory mesh screens.
Ten of my twelve windows measured 3'x 5', one was 2'x3' and one was stationary at 2' x 4'. None of my windows had a specialty shape, were oversized or required tempered safety glass (this is required for bathrooms if close to a tub). The exterior material of my home is vinyl. It was built in 2016 so lead remediation was not required.
Window Quotes Online
As consumers it's so frustrating when we can get so much detail online for many things, but not for replacement windows. Even if you bite the bullet and allow a Window Rep to come visit and take up two to three hours of your time, they may verbally quote you a price, but rarely did they offer anything in writing. So be sure to take notes as you collect pricing.
But finally, a window company has emerged and is setting themselves apart from the rest of the pack. Virtual View Windows conducts the entire sales process from Quote to Contract, virtually. No Sales Rep required or the need to give up two to three hours of your time.
Virtual View is a spin-off of a company of McCloud Windows in Columbus, Ohio. They are a national Alside dealer who can service 90% of the US. It's as easy as 1-2-3. You reach out to Joe at Virtual View, let him know a bit about your window project. Then text or email him, pictures inside and out, number of windows and their approximate sizes. (A pro will come out later to do the final measure) He'll want to know about the exterior material of your home and what year it was built.
Once Joe has all the needed information, he'll put a quote together with all the details and email or text it to you to review in your own time. No "today" only pricing gimmicks going on here. How refreshing!
Window Size Chart
Windows are priced by United Inches. You take the width plus the height. So for example, my 3' wide window which also measures 5' tall would be 96 United Inches. (36" + 60")
Virtual View has a progressive scale they use to price different size of windows:
0-70"
70-80"
80-90"
90-100"
100-110"
110" (This size and larger is considered an oversized window and comes with a higher price)
If you have windows with a specialty shape, say a round top, that also will be a higher price than a standard square or rectangle window. Windows that are within 24" to a door swing or within 60" to a toilet, tub or shower must be tempered and will cost a bit more as well. Tempered glass is a safety glass that breaks in crystals versus a sharp shard. Much like a Windshield on your car breaks in an accident.
If your home was built before 1978, lead remediation is required by code and will also add to the total overall cost of your window project.
Before you start subtracting certain windows, due to the circumstances above, you also need to understand that the more windows in your project the lower the cost per window. So it will be important to get a quote for all windows in question.
Why Window Companies offer "Today Only" Discounts: The Psychology of the Sale
So why do all the window companies practice the "Today Only" closing and put so much pressure on the homeowner?
1. The "Price Drop" Strategy
Salespeople are often trained to use a "price float" or "stair-step" pricing model.
The Initial Quote: They start with an intentionally inflated "MSRP" or "retail price" that is 30–50% higher than what they actually expect you to pay.
The "Incentive": When you hesitate, they "call their manager" or check a "regional promotion" to drop the price significantly—but only if you sign right now.
The Goal: They want to make you feel like you’ve "won" a negotiation and won a massive discount, which triggers a rush of dopamine and creates a Fear Of Missing Out (FOMO).
2. Eliminating the Competition
The primary reason for the "today-only" deadline is to prevent you from getting a second or third quote.
Window companies know that if you sleep on it, you will likely call a local contractor or a different brand.
By making the discount expire the moment they walk out the door, they force a high-pressure environment where "thinking about it" feels like it costs you thousands of dollars.
3. The "Marketing Home" or "Neighborhood" Script
You will often hear specific "reasons" for the today-only price:
The "Model Home" Pitch: "We want to use your house as a showcase to show your neighbors, so we'll give you a massive discount if you sign today." (They say this to everyone).
Double Hung Window Prices
As you begin to study the Wacky Window Woman Price Comparison chart, you'll quickly see that window prices vary. On the chart the total cost for my home went from just a bit more than $10,000 to over $34,000+ for the same twelve windows.
Our windows were installed in November of 2025.
And there is so much more than just the price, don't get so caught up in the price that you forget to compare energy ratings or warranties. The Alside Mezzo Window comes with two warranties when you purchase from Virtual View.
