When it comes to presentation, these two companies were a world apart - no pun intended! Walt from Window World and then John from Window Nation had completely different sales pitches and philosophies on how to run a Window Demo appointment.
Be sure to see the comparison chart in the Wacky Window Woman website to see how the larger well known Window replacement companies stacked up when comparing price and energy ratings.
Window World Demonstration
On a cloudy, rainy morning at 11:00 AM, “Walt” of Window World showed up to give us his pitch on how his company would be the best option for my husband and I. He walked in with his bag of “stuff,” his window sample and his brochures.
“Walt” seemed a bit quirky, but very knowledgeable about his windows. He shared that he had been around window manufacturing and window sales for over 20 years. I think his family has been in the world of window manufacturing for several generations. However, he spoke so quickly, I likely missed some of his story and many of details about his window.
He immediately pulled out his brochure and a pen that he used as a pointer and began to point to the features of how his window is manufactured. To be honest, he moved around the brochure pretty fast and I’m not sure I caught even 50% of what he shared from the brochure.
We explained that we wanted a quote for our 12 windows, white, double-paned and double hung. He pulled out a Window World quote sheet and began to fill in the options with the number of windows for each type.
His quote sheet included five sections:
1. Window World Basics
2. Glass/Window Options
3. Door Options
4. Pre-1978 Built Home option
5. Miscellaneous options
Once he added all the options together his total price was $10,673 making them number two, currently on the Wacky Window Woman Replacement Window comparison chart.
On Window World’s quote, “Walt”, he also noted ways to take away features in an effort to reduce the price. We could have removed Argon Gas or Low-E glass for example. Neither of those were items were features were will willing to remove only to reduce the price. But rather, those features were exactly why we wanted to replace our windows with a higher-quality version than what came when we built our home.
Walt was in and out in less than 30-minutes, he didn't attempt to close us. He also stated that he would not follow up or bug us with endless phone calls. Basically, if we wanted to buy it would be up to us to reach out to him.
The Alside 4000 series window comes with standard fiberglass screens, rather than memory mesh which is standard with the Alside Mezzo Quattro by Virtual View Windows.

Window Nation Demonstration
Window Nation has some of the corniest commercials, which also means I remember them. They are the ones with the two brothers, one’s name is Aaron and the other is Harley. The one I saw just this morning is where the two newscasters are camped out in the front yard of a home which is currently having it’s windows replaced.
“John” was the representative that Window Nation sent to our home. “John” did exactly what I had expected all of them to do, meaning a big show. He told us that Window Nation is the 3rd largest replacement window company in the US. He shared that he had been with the company for over 25 years and he even boasted about being a member of their President’s Club and the lavish trips he’s been on. That was my first clue that they were not going to be the most affordable.
We got our money’s worth with his presentation. He asked me to walk him from the front of the home and work our way along each wall so he could measure every window. Ten of my twelve windows are the same size and we told him that, but he insisted on measuring them all. This took time he didn’t have as he was 15 minutes late due to traffic, which I completely understand, but we were also clear that I had a hard stop at 90 minutes and would have to excuse myself to join a work meeting online.
As it turned out, he didn’t get through his presentation as he hoped, which meant he ended with a one-legger at the end, meaning you only have of the two owners and a decision wouldn’t be made that day as they would need to “talk” before they made a decision.
Window Nation's today price with his allowed discount was $19,304. This is $9500 more than the price we were quoted by Window World.

Replacement Window Warranties
Window Nation along with Mad City probably offers the best warranty, but you are paying for it in the overall cost of the window. Be sure to get warranty details, like is it transferrable and what steps do you need to follow to ensure the next homeowner is covered? The warranties vary, so be sure to ask questions around what's important to you.
Best Replacement Window Experience in the U.S.
A few weeks into my window shopping journey, I stumbled onto a company called Virtual View Windows. They tout that they allow you to do the entire shopping process from quote to contract virtually, meaning you never have to let a sales person step into your home, if you don't want to.
You can reach out to them and they'll ask you to send photos and other information about your window project. LIke number of windows, their sizes, exterior material of your home and what year your home was built. Once they have the needed information, they'll email you a quote and let you take some time to process the information.

Window Nation Vs. Window World - Which is more affordable?
In this match-up, it's difficult to declare a winner. Window World is definitely more affordable, but their window doesn't stack up to Window Nation. Window Nation offers a great window but they are $9500 more than Window World and about $10,000 more than the #1 company on the chart.
Virtual View, which is #1 on the list is significantly less than Window Nation and they offer a high performing window with excellent energy ratings.
